Mike Fries is Chief Executive Officer of Liberty Global, the largest international TV and broadband company in the world, currently providing close to 29 million customers in over 30 countries with broadband, entertainment, voice and mobile services. With more than 45,000 employees and $20 billion of revenue, Liberty Global is recognized as a global leader in entertainment, media and broadband.

Fries was a founding member of the management team that launched the company's international expansion over 25 years ago, and he has served in various strategic and operating capacities since that time. He was appointed president and chief executive officer in 2005 and is the vice chairman of Liberty Global's board of directors. He is also a member of its two-person executive committee along with the company's chairman, Dr. John C. Malone.

Fries is an engaged industry and community leader. He is a Telecom Governor and Steering Committee member of the World Economic Forum and a member of Young Presidents' Organization. He serves as a trustee or board member of many organizations, including CableLabs, The Cable Center, Grupo Televisa, Lionsgate, Alliance for Choice in Education and Teach for America, and he chairs the board for the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver and the Biennial of the Americas. Recognitions for his achievements include EY Entrepreneur of the Year in Media, Entertainment and Communications, Industry Leader of the Year by Digital TV Europe and induction into the Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame. In April, he will be inducted into the Cable Hall of Fame which recognizes pioneers and leaders in the cable industry. Mike holds a B.A. from Wesleyan University, where he serves on the Board of Trustees, and an M.B.A. from Columbia University.

Balan Nair is Executive Vice President and Chief Technology and Innovation Officer for Liberty Global. In this capacity he is responsible for overseeing Liberty Global's worldwide network, Technology and Innovation operations, including Product Development, IT, Network Operations, Mobile Operations and Global Supply Chain functions. He also leads our Technology Investment Venture group and our Corporate Strategy Group. To support Liberty Global's customer-centric focus, Mr. Nair is instrumental in working with our senior management and board to leverage our innovation and technology operating model on a global basis. Mr. Nair is an executive officer of Liberty Global and sits on Liberty Global's Executive Leadership Team and the Investment Committee.

Prior to joining Liberty Global in July of 2007, Mr. Nair served as AOL's chief technology officer overseeing Technology, IT, and network operations. Prior to his role at AOL, Mr. Nair spent 12 years at Qwest Communications International Inc. (Qwest), most recently as Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Chief Technology Officer. He has a long history of working in the telco industry, the web world and now the cable and media industry.

Mr. Nair sits on the boards of Charter Communications, a leading cable operator in the United States, and Adtran Corporation. In addition, he is a co-chair of Energy 2020, an initiative of the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers to reduce the cable industry's power consumption. He holds a patent in systems development and is a Licensed Professional Engineer in Colorado. Mr. Nair holds a Masters of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering, both from Iowa State University.

Originally a chemical engineer, John Bessant has been active in the field of research and consultancy in technology and innovation management for over 35 years. He is currently holds the Chair in Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the University of Exeter and has visiting appointments at the universities of Erlangen-Nuremburg and Queensland University of Technology. In 2003 he was elected a Fellow of the British Academy of Management and in 2016 a Fellow of the International Society for Professional Innovation Management (ISPIM). He has acted as advisor to various national governments, international bodies (including the United Nations,World Bank and OECD) and to many public and private sector organizations. He is the author of 30 books and many articles on the topic and has lectured and consulted widely around the world.

Leslie Ellis is owner of Ellis Edits Inc. and Translation-Please.com, a Denver-based analysis/writing firm specializing in the technologies used in cable, multichannel video and broadband delivery systems. Her specific focus is "translating" the dense language surrounding the technologies and technology strategies of service providers, and particularly cable service providers

She writes a column for Multichannel News called "Translation Please," now in its 18th year; she's also written two broadband dictionaries, one field guide to broadband, and is co-author of "Planet Broadband" with Roger Brown and Stewart Schley. She's served as Senior Technology Advisor to CTAM since 2001, and is a behind-the-scenes tech translator for domestic and global service providers, networks, and suppliers.

Previously, Leslie was Paul Kagan Associates' Senior Technology Analyst. She was Senior Technology Editor for Multichannel News/Broadband Week from 1994-1998, and Managing Editor of Communications Engineering & Design magazine from 1990-1994. She began in the cable industry in 1987 as a technical writer of hardware and software manuals related to advertising insertion technology.

Leslie is the 2005 recipient of an NCTA Vanguard Award, and the 2010 recipient of the national WICT/SCTE Technology Woman of the Year Award. She was inducted into the Cable Pioneers in 2015.

Outside of work, Leslie is a beekeeper, founder of the Women Who Bee beekeeping club, and Executive Producer of the documentary film "BEE PEOPLE," released in 2012. She's also an active volunteer with cableFIRST, which aims to link industry technologists and businesspeople, as FIRST mentors, with local high-school robotics teams.

Mark Giesbers joined Liberty Global's European headquarters in 2013 and currently serves as the company's Vice President, Entertainment Products. In this role he is responsible for the product development and central product management of the digital TV & video products and services across Liberty's European operations. This includes all digital TV products, set-top boxes and decoders, online & mobile TV, video/OTT apps, portals and cloud TV services used by approximately 16 million of the company's cable and satellite customers. Mark is also responsible for 'Horizon', Liberty Global's next-generation TV/entertainment platform that's currently in over 2.3 million homes in 7 countries.

Since 2008 Mark served on the country management team at UPC Netherlands, Liberty's local Dutch cable operation (later merged with Ziggo) as their VP Marketing & Content. In the 15 years prior to joining the Liberty group he held commercial, strategy and general management roles in telecoms, media and consulting at various companies including Talpa Media, Vodafone Germany, O2/Telfort and British Telecom.

Mr. Veenod Kurup is the Chief Information Officer and Managing Director of Liberty Global since 2016. Previously Mr. Kurup served as the Chief Information Officer of Telenet Group Holding and led Telenet's Information Technology department. Mr. Kurup is a cable industry veteran who has held various IT, operational and engineering roles in over fourteen years with Cox Communications Inc. Before joining Telenet, he worked at Gandeeva, a technology consultancy that lists Liberty Global plc among its international clients. His affinity with telecommunications, his broad technological knowledge, strategic vision and leadership qualities make him the ideal candidate to lead the IT team. Mr. Kurup has served as Vice President of Data Product Services at Cox Communications, Inc. He oversaw the development of an integrated service provisioning and management system as well as network management of email and news services for Cox's 3.5 million high-speed Internet accounts. He was also responsible for the development and implementation of future product functionality and the tools, interfaces and business processes necessary to support the growth and enhancement of Cox's high-speed Internet service. He joined Cox in 1997 as a Project Manager. He served as a Software Engineer for Arrowsmith Technologies Inc. Mr. Kurup is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, and holds a bachelor's degree in computer science.

Inge Smidts joined Liberty Global in September 2015 as Chief Marketing Officer.Before that she worked for the Telenet Group starting November 2009 and was responsible for Go-to-Market reporting to the Executive Vice President – Residential Marketing until she joined the Executive Team in October 2010 as Senior Vice President Residential Marketing. Prior to joining the Telenet Group, Mrs. Smidts had over ten years of experience at Procter & Gamble, where she started as Assistant Brand Manager and was regularly promoted up to Business Leader for the Benelux Paper business. Mrs. Smidts holds a Master of Economics degree from UFSIA in Antwerp and an MBA in Marketing from the IAE in Aix-en-Provence.

Line, leurentop is the founder of Insighculture, a consultancy business located in Belgium. She has over 25 years of experience in translating deep consumer understanding & consumer trends into product innovation, and actionable marketing and communication strategies. She build most of her expertise with Procter & Gamble R&D where she worked on different product categories and in different geographies, running local and global consumer initiatives.

12 years ago Line launched her own consultancy company. Combining a solid product development background with her passion for marketing and communication, her unique skill is in bringing product and marketing teams together to develop holistic consumer value propositions that harness the power of deep consumer insight and solid product development. To do so, she guides teams through effective market research to secure deep consumer understanding and helps to translate this into actionable design principles for product development. Her customers include several FMCGs (P&G, Masterfoods, Chiquita, Lotus Bakeries), and key players in a variety of other categories like telecom & media (Telenet, Liberty Global, De Persgroep), finance (Mastercard), textiles/fashion (Bragard, B&C) and retail (Albert Heijn Holland).

Ralph Brown guides CableLabs' technical staff in delivering innovative solutions to the cable industry. He leads standards strategy, supplier relations, and the industry's participation in the FCC's Downloadable Security Technical Advisory Committee (DSTAC).

Prior to CableLabs, Ralph worked for Excite@Home as Chief Architect, Set-top Systems where he worked on broadband applications for set-top terminals and entertainment devices. Before joining Excite@Home, he worked for Time Warner Cable as Chief Software Architect in their Advanced Engineering Department where he worked on the Orlando Full Service Network and was a key contributor the Time Warner Cable Pegasus Program. While at Time Warner Cable and Excite@Home, Ralph was also an active participant in the CableLabs OpenCable™ project.

Ralph earned a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His Master's thesis was in the field of Speech Recognition. He received his Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Summa Cum Laude, from North Carolina State University.

John Paul is Managing Director, Advanced Advertising and Data for Liberty Global and is based in the Company's London office. He is responsible for the development of new advertising models, partnerships and employment of data across the company.

John has over 25 years' experience in the broadcast and cable sector with a focus on operations and emerging product strategy. Before rejoining Liberty Global in 2014 he was CTO of Special Broadcasting Service (SBS Australia), COO of Australia Network, and Founder & Managing Partner of Trident Media Partners where he advised Tier 1 media firms: NBC, News Corporation, Telstra and Foxtel on strategy and infrastructure.
Prior to this, he was part of UGC, Liberty Global's predecessor, where he worked in Australia on the launch of AUSTAR and its triple-play products and helped the company explore investment opportunities in Asia. He was a principal architect of Australia's early pay TV industry – with Australis Media and has served on the boards of SANZAR (South Africa, New Zealand and Australia Rugby) and Freeview Australia. He began his career in family trade publishing business TV Editorial Corporation and NBC Affiliate operations.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from American University and is a Dux graduate of the Royal Australian Naval College.

John Porter has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Telenet, a leading provider of media and telecommunication services in Belgium, as of April 2013. Prior to joining Telenet, he served as Chairman and non-executive director on the board of ASX-listed company Enero and oOh!media, Australia's largest outdoor media company. From 1995 to 2012 he was Chief Executive Officer of AUSTAR United Communications, an ASX-listed provider of subscription television and related products in Australia, where he played a leading role in the overall development of the Australian subscription television industry. AUSTAR was acquired by Foxtel, a joint venture between News Corp and Telstra, in May 2012.

Previously, John also served as Chief Operating Officer, Asia Pacific for United International Holdings, the predecessor company to Liberty Global. From 1989 to 1994 he was appointed President, Ohio Division at Time Warner Cable. He started his career at Group W Broadcasting & Cable as Director Government Relations before becoming General Manager of Westinghouse Cable Systems in Texas and Alabama.

John holds a BA in History from Kenyon College in Ohio. John is married and has four children.

Doron Hacmon is the Chief Product Officer and Managing Director of Liberty Global. Mr. Hacmon has been active in various product development and marketing roles in the Company and is currently responsible for overseeing product development across all digital and analogue platforms including television, broadband internet, fixed telephony and mobile. Mr. Hacmon is based at the Company's headquarters in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Mr. Hacmon joined Liberty Global in 2000 as Director of Finance and Business Analysis for the Company's subsidiary, Priority Wireless, where he managed the business development, economic analysis and corporate finance. Prior to that, Doron Hacmon worked in various roles, amongst others as Partner and Vice-President for Israeli Management Consultancy, David Boas between 1991-1999.

Mr Hacmon teaches Innovation Management at the MBA Programme of the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Mr. Hacmon holds an MBA from Tel Aviv University and a B.A in Economics from Bar-Ilan University, Israel.

Balan Balakrishnan is Managing Director, Global Data & Analytics for Liberty Global. In his role, he is responsible for business intelligence, big data and advanced analytics, leveraging the power of data to drive business insights and predict customer and operational movements for better business decisions. Mr. Balakrishnan's responsibility includes helping Liberty Global to drive overall business growth and optimization through the utilization and interpretation of our global data assets to inform decision making, business optimization and data monetization.

Bala brings deep cable and telecom industry background and significant experience in analytics and data management. With more than 25 years of experience in business intelligence and advanced analytics, strategy and business transformation in areas such as marketing, sales, network operations and IT. Bala most recently served as Senior Partner at EY, leading EY's consulting practice for the Cable and Satellite practice globally. In this role, he assisted cable and telecom companies across the world in transforming their businesses, both in strategy formulation and business transformation across a variety of functional areas, leveraging advanced analytics and business intelligence, revenue enhancement through customer segmentation customer experience management, sales and marketing analytics and optimization, product management, pricing and profitability analytics, base management, and cost optimization through operations transformation and analytics. Bala also brings with him experience in developing areas such as data monetization, targeted advertisement and digital transformation.

Prior to joining EY, Bala held various senior roles in Booz & Company, Qwest Communications and Sprint Corporation, where he has worked in variety of areas including sales and care transformation, network and operations optimization, IT strategy and management and large scale systems deployment.

Bala has an MBA in Global Business Management from University of North Carolina's Kenan Flagler Business School and a Masters in Computer Science focused on Telecom and Networking from the University of Missouri.
